Batch 44‎ > ‎

Lesson Blog

This lesson blog allows the instructors to communicate with the participants of ET9135A. If there are observation or things that we would like to share with but did not have time to mention in the class.

Some of the info may be generic across different batches. Instead of repeating the info, I suggest that students also read all my previous lesson blog to get an insight of important observation.

Stay tune and keep in touch.

First Consultation Session

posted 29 May 2017, 02:26 by Roderick Chia

Batch 44 shall be having 2 consultation sessions on 3rd June 2017 and 29th July 2017.

The first session is compulsory and every teams are expected to book a session. For the session on 29 July 2017, teams who still need consultation support can book a session or if the team is requested by the respective instructor would have to do so as well.

In order to make booking easy for everyone, we have implemented appointment booking feature.  You have to login to your gmail account or account to see the calendar below and make booking.  Only ONE member of the group is required to make the booking.  Just share the booked calendar with the rest of your group-mate. If there is a need to change appointment slot with other team, please make private arrangement and the person making the booking has to delete the booking and release the slot for the other team to book.

The consultation would be half hour slot if you need more advice from both of us (Roderick and Adrian). Please make your booking by this Friday, 2nd June 2017 at 2200hrs for the 3rd June session.

The exam should be over for most of you and we are expecting the the project is in the execution phase already. It is disappointed to note that some of you still did not have any blog entry! Given that we are expecting a minimum of a blog entry every fortnight, each member of the team should have at least 4 blog entries by now.

Please be reminded to be on time (best to arrive 15 min earlier to wait for your slotted appointment) for the consultation given that the session will be held back to back.

It is not easy to do badly but students keep trying very hard to do so!

posted 16 Apr 2017, 22:51 by Roderick Chia   [ updated 16 Apr 2017, 22:55 ]

Last Saturday, we had a biz plan presentation and during the presentation, I told the class that they need to do the inter-group peers appraisal. In order to do so, they needed to log into their account first. However, after checking the responses, I noticed that there were significant shortage of number of responses so I gave them till 6pm today to complete. As instructors, we tried very hard to ensure that students do well. However, sad to say that some of them simply try too hard to test our limit.  The first lesson started a month ago, and by today, I expect to see at least 2 blog posts, updating what they had done so far. But hard to imagine why as of now, about 45% of the students in this batch have yet to log in.  I'll check again after 6pm and see how else is trying so hard to fail.  I'm so tempted to put up a hall of shame, listing those trying so hard but I have been holding my hand back from doing so.

Lesson 1 and 2

Here's are slides for first 2 lessons. After these lesson, it is time to prepare for the business plan writing and presentation.  While it is not easy to follow the business plan while running a venture, the planning process is what that makes business plan writing important.

Change of date for Lesson 1

posted 24 Mar 2017, 02:39 by Roderick Chia

The first lesson supposed to be on 18 Mar 2017 but due to administrative error, the students were not informed. This is why it was postponed to Friday evening. Friday evening is usually a better time for the lesson than on Sat but those on internship would find it a problem and might be last for class. That is why to have to have lesson on Sat morning. We live in the world of constrain and we just need to deal with it as it comes along. That's the spirit of entrepreneurship.
